LA SAGNE

In addition to the salt production and rice growing, the inhabitants of Camargue harvest " La sagne " (reed), in the swamps of " Charnier " near Gallician. Called also " thatch ", it is used as roofing material for Camarguese houses but also for those in Normandy, England and Holland.
