MÈZE

Ideally located between two series of oyster beds in the " Etang de Thau ", this ex-wine port now produces oysters and mussels. For the best lesson in ecology, go for a visit to the waste treatment center of the "Etang" and the aquiculture research center which aims at preserving the local ecosystem.

MOISSAC

Between Valence d'Agen and Casterlsarrasin, Moissac is a must because of its cultural and artistic wealth which will satisfy the most passionate of art lovers. On the road to Saint Jacques de Compostelle, Moissac will deserves two long visits, one to the Romanesque cloisters built in the XIth century and one to the magnificient tympanum of the Abbaye Saint Pierre which is considered among the very best of Romanesque art. The town is also famous for its green grapes, Chasselas, known for their very sweet and subtle taste. You can ride on the small train and discover the glass blowers, the ceramists, the window-glass makers along the famous Rue des Arts.

MONTECH

The main attraction the water slope was unique in Europe for a long time. This technique was put in service in 1974. The barge is trapped in a mobile reach, then it is moved along by two tows on tyres. You avoid going through 5 locks. But the entire operation will be explained to you in detail when you get there.

OLONZAC

Olonzac, the economic capital of the Minervois region, was a free fortified town. You can still see the ruins of the XIVth century fortified walls. The archeological museum keeps the town's historical past alive.

NÉRAC

L'OBÉLISQUE DE RIQUET

In 1825, Riquet's descendents set up this monument to his memory. Standing on a pedestal made with stone from Naurouze, it stands at the point where the waters divide. The legend has it that Nostradamus predicted that the end of the world would come when the cracks in the stone closed up.
