VIANNE

A XIIIth century English bastide, a XIIth century Romanesque church, and medieval tumbs bear witness to the historical past of Vianne. The town has successfully kept its ruins within the fortified walls. The village square offers a unique perspective and will show you the importance of this building. It was the cradle of the ancient art of glass-blowing, and at its glass works, you will learn the tradition of the window-glass makers'art.

PORT LA NOUVELLE

Port-La-Nouvelle a stone's throw East of Narbonne, can be reached by boat. Its a famous seaside resort with 13 kilometers of beaches and a marina. It is the last port on the " Canal de la Robine ", opening on to the sea ; sailors can set up mast again to sail the Mediterranean sea. Its industry (salt production) does not spoil the charms of this fishing port. If you long to stroll in unusual surroundings, you can set sail to the island of Sainte Lucie with its salt-marshes.

LE PETIT PÂTÉ DE PÉZENAS

This culinary curiosity was created in Pézenas and imitated in Béziers. Its origin is English (yes !). Here is its story : in 1768, Lord Clive, vice-king of India, having grown weary of the nobility there decides to move to France. Once settled in the castle of Larzac, near Pézenas, he became worried about the malnutrition affecting the poor. He decided to increase the nutrititive quality of the bread distributed to them. His Indian cook created tasty meat pies : fat and mutton meat, lemon, brown sugar and aromatic substances... Do not hesitate to ask the baker to heat up this tower-shaped treat.

PALAVAS-LES-FLOTS

Palavas is a picturesque fishing port, charming and bustling, one of the best equipped nautical stopovers with, a beautiful fine sand beach, jousting, activities with bulls, a funfair and the small Albert Dubout museum (cartoonist). Palavas offers all this. You can taste local dishes and shellfish along the pier to your heart's content while contemplating latin sail boats. This will be one of the busnest nights of your cruise.

MONCRABEAU

Known all over the world as the capital lit-telling and face-pulling Moncrabeau dominates the valley of the river Baïse. By wandering aimlessly, reading the informative signs, after a pleasant forty-minute walk, you will have learnt the history or the origin of " Cocu Saute " street, of the " Mentherie Royale ", of the " Truth stone ". After the most pleasant of strolls you will be happy and proud to have finally found the truth in the country of liars.

HUÎTRES ET MOULES

In the " Bassin de Thau " the main activities are ostreiculture (oyster-breeding) and mytiliculture (mussel-breeding). Oysters are attached to ropes or bars and immersed for a year. As for mussels, they are immersed in bunches when still " naissain " (babies). Either eaten raw or cooked, they will be delicious.

LA BAÏSE

The river Baïse, reveals a multitude of varied landscapes. Meandering between green hills you will enter the region of many kingdoms : Bastide de Vianne, Nérac and (Henry the Fourth's) castle. But do not believe stones told by the inhabitants of Moncrabeau because champion. Gastronomy is a must in the land of Gasconne culinary tradition where foie gras, confit, Armagnac and prunes are there to be tasted as you sail along.
